#5 From the theoretical musical womb of Dylan &...
Josh Ritter has done it again. He’s changed things up just enough to hear a new sound in ways with new stories. When last I heard Ritter, he took his folk ship in bouncier waters, reminding of Spoon with its rhythmic clutch and abstract piano. While this record feels more his earlier works, it brings back the same polished experimentation with varied instruments (think vibraphones, violin,...

#6 From the band that makes you bounce and scratch...
Cuz I’m lazy AND I’ve already written a review for this for MSU’s newspaper The Reflector, I’m gonna copy/paste this mother with fresh thoughts at the end.
Spoon creates solid sounds but lacks connection

It's easy riding on the Okkervil River...
and I like it. Very excited about the new record and thought I’d repost this via the A.V. Club:

From the movie that could've been written about...
or at least the 50’s version of it. Plot: Released in 1957, A Face in the Crowd shows the path an Arkansas hobo (Andy Griffith) takes to Hollywood and what television success and show business can do to a person. That’s the the basic summary I had seen when looking it up. But it’s more than that. As I will show you. This film shows the truth of the conniving show business...

#7 From the band that only does concept albums,...
I don’t yet have the skill or the time to write a proper review of this album. So instead, you get random thoughts via my mind in a bulleted list! Yeaaa!!!
✓ Another concept album. And concept albums are tough, but AF does it the best. ✓ Somewhat nostalgic and sad. ✓ Simple, yet orchestral and epic. ✓ Songs slowly but surely evoke emotion. ✓ They nail...

#8 From the band that makes you wanna listen your...
Critics loved this album. Me? Sometimes I like it pretty well. Others, meh. I can’t put this record in the background; it commands your attention. You see, this is almost completely a mood piece. It’s not a great rock record, but It’s 11 tracks of warm pleasantry. To me, that’s like kinda like saying she’s not hot, but she has a wonderful personality. And she does!

Prepare thyself for my own BEST MUSIC OF 2010 list
I’ve been listening to my favorite records of the past year and am penciling away some record reviews for you guys. Actually it’s just for my own benefit but feel free to read and argue against it. It’ll be a top 8 and it WON’T BE THE BEST 8, BUT MY FAVORITE 8. But I mean, c’mon, what’s the difference, right? I have great taste. Plus I’ve seen many of my...

So I watched To Kill a Mockingbird...
and for the first 30 minutes I was under the impression this was the first version of A Time to Kill. Ya know, the one with Matthew McConaughey and Samuel L. Jackson, etc. Yeah, my bad. It has “to Kill” in the title in an ancient-sounding phrase. Both films have an upstanding white guy defending an innocent black guy. So I got confursed.
Atticus (Gregory Peck) in To Kill a...
